The Public Accountability Initiative vs. ECHDC

This weeks paper features an interview with ECHDC vice chair Larry Quinn, in which he talks about the future of the Canal Side project post Bass Pro, as well as a guest column by Kevin Connor and Andrew Stecker of the Public Accountability Initiative, in which they argue that ECHDC should be dissolved.
Not long ago, the Public Accountability Initiative released a report by Stecker and Connor that posited Bass Pro’s pattern of making big promises to municipalities across the country in exchange for subsidies, and then failing to deliver on those promises. If you’d like to read that report, “Fishing for Taxpayer Cash,” you know what to do.
This month, ECHDC completed (but did not release) a response to the PAI report. Here it is, all 66 pages.
UPDATE: The Public Accountability Initiative has posted a more thorough version of their report on ECHDC conflict of interest on the Little Sis blog.
