Since its release in 1998, Neutral Milk Hotel’s In the Aeroplane Over the Sea has garnered mythic status. The brain child of Jeff Mangum, the record is a such timeless piece of work that even Mangum pretty much admits he will never be able to top it. Aside from the occasional surprise appearance, little has been heard from Neutral Milk Hotel since.
That’s where Neutral Uke Hotel comes in. Neutral Uke Hotel performs the entire In the Aeroplane Over the Sea from start to finish on ukulele and other assorted instruments. According to the band, the goal is to unite all the freaks and hardcore fans for one night to celebrate a classic record by a band no one is likely to ever see again. This one is not to be missed. Neutral Uke Hotel perform at Mohawk Place on Sunday, June 20. Opening is the equally mythical Magi Chippie.
