Education Reform Now Lies

You may have read the story in Saturday’s Buffalo News, where Mary B. Pasciak writes of Education Reform Now: “The group also considered backing East District incumbent Vivian Evans, he said, but decided to focus its financial resources on just three candidates.”

Education Reform Now Executive Director Joe Williams must have told her that, but I’m telling you that’s a lie, based on this slick mailer they sent out promoting Evans.

It was mailed from Whitney Kemp’s office over there in the Innovation Center on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus, 640 Ellicott Street, 4th Floor, Suite 8. Click here to hear what a straight talker she is, and to see all the Craig’s List ads Whitney and Education Reform Now placed trying to hire paid canvassers to screw around in Buffalo’s school board election.

The Education Law says that $25 is the limit that can be spent on a candidate in Buffalo School Board elections without that candidate’s approval. Yet that law has been totally ignored in the last two school board elections.

The lesson, kids, is that grownups don’t have to follow the law—as long as they swear they’re doing it for you.
