Buffalo News Loses More Editorial Staff

Eight editorial staffers left the Buffalo News today in the latest round of buyouts. The most familiar names are the reporters: Gene Warner, Michael Beebe, Alan Pergament, Tom Buckham, and Peter Simon.

Three editors took buyouts as well: Jim Brennan, Dorothy Keenan, and Bill Lukasiak.

The News has lost 26 editorial staffers since highly regarded reporter Jay Bonfatti died in August 2008, 22 through buyouts, reducing the department to 155. Ten of the staffers who have taken buyouts were reporters and critics, six were editors, one was a graphic artist, and five were clerks.

Beebe and Warner are especially big losses to the paper.
