Our Best of Buffalo poll this year included an essay question: How would you invest a billion dollars in the welfare of Western New York? We’re posting an answer every day until we run out of good answers:
Dana Saylor write:
I would invest in the projects that are already working, through organizations like Buffalo ReUse, PUSH, Grassroots Gardens, ReTree, MAP, Green Options Buffalo, Olmsted Parks Conservancy etc. I would buy and renovate the Statler Tower into modern loft apartments with commercial use on the first three floors. I would tear down the Skyway and bury the 190, Amtrak and Rt 5 downtown, thus freeing up space on the waterfront for the people to enjoy/shop.
