Sweet Government Gig

Polish up your resumes, ladies and gentlemen, because I have an employment opportunity for you: Erie County Commissioner of Jurors. It pays $101,120 per year, and gives you entry to that awesome state pension system. Basically, the commissioner supervises a staff that assembles qualified juries for the courts system. The qualifications? A bachelor’s degree and at least five years experience in some sort of managerial capacity.
Of course, this sweet government gig is realistically available only to the politically wired. But there’s a lot of people in this county who meet those qualifications and earn a lot less. I think we ought to flood the Erie County Jury Board with applications, just as the Common Council is being flooded with applications for the Ellicott District seat. Applications must be postmarked by December 9.
