Only With America!

As Summer began, the rock band America (Horse with No Name, Tin Man and countless other chart topping hits) performed at Artpark in Lewiston. Summer in Western New York doesn’t begin until America does so; it’s part of some cosmic agreement written some where. As always America’s performance was by far and away as good as it gets. America has a reputation for leaving their audiences awe-struck! And Artpark, with the assistance of Maria Costello, is the premier venue for out door entertainment!
While there I had a question for Maria; “who would dare to open for them?” Her answer; “(local musician) David Nolf and his band; One and One!”
Dave stays true to his original sound by refusing to conform to the bland echo of mediocre music. Performing at Buffalo’s legendary venues such as The Tralf, Town Ballroom, and Club Infinity, Nolf reaches out and appeals to a diverse audience. With help from established local musician Marc Scibilia and filmmaker Julian Smith, a video for his debut single; “Pushin Through” was filmed. (Go to www.myspace.com/OneandOnemusic).
But what if you can’t head north on Tuesdays? How about Bidwell Park? This week Councilman Mike LoCurto sponsored the Latin Jazz Project in a series brought to us by the Elmwood Village Association!
And if you can’t make it out on Tuesdays? According to Maria Costello; “There’s always Wednesdays at the Gorge!”
Coming up on Wednesday is Tinsley Ellis (not to be confused with Curtis Ellis) with opening act The Nighthawks! And on Tuesday 54 – 40 with Local Band Mo Porter!
It’s always GREAT when local (and terrific) talent is promoted!
