For some marketing reason, my two favorite VWs aren’t available in North America:

2009 VW Polo (UK)

the Polo (similar in style to but smaller than the Golf), and the Scirocco (a sporty coupe based on the Golf).

2009 VW Scricco (UK)

When I headed on over to VW’s UK website, wasn’t I surprised to see they’re  showing the current Polo (from £8,345), and the newer Polo (hitting dealers soon) which they’re calling… New Polo! The Scirocco (from £19,110) takes me back to the days of my youth, when I laid out $6,500 for a new 1978 model. I couldn’t believe I was spending that much on a car!

2010 VW New Polo (UK)

I keep hearing rumors that the Scirocco might make it over here some day. Ditto for the New Polo, especially with energy prices sure to climb again. I can’t imagine I’ll ever buy another Scirocco, but that I hear that New Polo calling my name!
