GOP Takes Control of NYS Senate

800px-nyscapitolpanoramaA power shift has taken place in Albany today, according to this story from the Albany Times Union. Dean Skelos is the new majority leader after Senators Hiram Monserrate, D-Queens, and Pedro Espada, D-Bronx switched their allegiance. Thus ends Malcolm Smith’s tenure as majority leader.

Meanwhile, the Web site for biweekly political paper City Hall says Sabres owner Tom Golisano “entered the chamber on the Republican side as the coup was taking place. Top Golisano aide Steve Pigeon has a longstanding relationship with Espada, who was voted president pro temp.”

  1. I was wondering how long the Dems thought they could get away with taking $5M of Golisano’s money and then ignoring his opinions. Time to pay the piper.

  2. I had high hopes for the Democratic majority but they turned out to be Scoundrels.

NYS is in such a bad state and all they did was to vote themselves a raise and hire political hacks.

Yes… that includes you Senator Thompson, Senator Stachowski. The do nothing so called masterminds while NYC got everything. My only regret is we have to deal with Volker— an other piece of garbage too.. But at least he brought home the bacon..
