Solar 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — Geoff Kelly @ 3:27 pm

solar-003This morning State Senator Antoine Thompson announced a national conference called Solar 2009, to be held at the Burchfield-Penney Art Center in  May 11-16. There will be demo models of newfangled solar panels and electric cars, which are interesting enough.

But I’ll be going to hear about green jobs. And I hope to hear some concrete numbers.

The conference’s organizers say they expect 3,500 attendees over six days.

  1. Thank you Artvoice for covering this very important and exciting National Solar Conference being held here in Buffalo. Who says Buffalo is 10 years behind the times- that’s old thinking! Old thinking also tells us we don’t see the sun from October until April. We in fact have more sunlight during this period than anywhere else in the northeast!

  2. Along with impressive visuals of solar panels and electric cars, major topics of discussion will be the creation of Green jobs in the Buffalo-Niagara region and the impact of renewable technology and its potential application in our daily lives. The general public is encouraged to attend to learn more about how they can lower their energy costs from solar industry leaders in their community and the industry as a whole.

  3. In relation to how this conference will affect our local economy; if the upcoming conference attendance is estimated at 3,500 attendants/participants, that will bring in a hefty volume of traffic to ultimately stimulate the local tourist and hospitality economy.

Overall, the Solar Conference and Public Day will be a tremendous opportunity for Buffalo and the surrounding region. It will put Buffalo on the map as an up-and-coming leader in the green economy to carry a legacy of energy conservation for generations to come.

    Touché mon frère Twixt.

  4. I’m finding Monsieur Antoine’s Green Environment Events more and more interesting…

However I do believe I detect a scent wafting in from Denmark.

Has Bill Nowak returned from Copenhagen?

  5. I’ve heard Nowak playing the harmonica. He’s good enough to be in a Johnny Cash prison movie. Good news for Thompson; he’ll have something to listen to. Does Thompson know what he’s gotten himself into?

  6. Why in the world does Antoine have Nowak in his office? Somebody’s got to talk to him! After all this great stuff he’s doing environmentally this has to happen? Talk about a Yin and Yang!

  7. What’s wrong with Nowak? I’ve met him. I’ve watched him peddling his bike around his block a few times. He seems sincere.

  10. WAY!!! That’s why I wrote Yin and Yang!

Why does there always have to be a Yang? Can’t we ever just catch a break around here?
