Franczyk To Davis: Hold Press Conference...Come Clean
Written by Glenn Gramigna, Editor

COUNCIL PRESIDENT LAYS DOWN LAW TO ELLICOTT DISTRICT'S DAVIS "DON'T FORCE ME TO INTERVENE....GET AHEAD OF THE STORY"...REVELATIONS IN THE NEWS COMING SOON?...COLLINS/GRANT ALREADY GAME PLANNING POTENTIAL POLITICAL EARTHQUAKE?...STRANGE TALK IN LOAN GRANTING AGENCY ACCORDING TO SOURCE

Buffalo Common Council President Dave Franczyk has had enough of revelations dribbling out concerning the ethical challenges being faced by embattled Ellicott District Councilman Brian Davis.

"I would like him to get out ahead of this story," President Franczyk told NewWNYPolitics on Monday. "He should call a press conference and answer all the questions without holding back anything. If there are other revelations, he should reveal them himself. Please, don't force me to intervene in this matter. Councilman Davis should tell the entire truth about this whole matter so we can get all these ethics issues behind us."

Meanwhile, rumors are as common as despondent Sabres fans around town that respected veteran reporter, Jim Heaney of the Buffalo News is working on a blockbuster story on the entire Davis mess for imminent publication. We'll see.

As for our own crack investigative reporting team, they are telling us that County Executive Chris Collins and his chief of staff, Chris Grant, have already been game planning what they would do if a major political earthquake hit Buffalo that would take an extremely prominent local political figure out for good!...They have also been passing on reports of more funny business involving the city's loan granting operation,

including at least one potential client being asked to funnel his accounting business and legal representation to selected firms as a condition of being considered for an economic development loan in the Queen City. Yet another source tells us he was told he would have to offer "cuts" to certain individuals as he or she progressed through the loan process, though exactly what that meant, no one is sure.

No dispute to the merits of this article and the issue it addresses, but you are writing to the choir and the choir either doesn't care enough about gov't corruption or can't figure out what to do about it. For many years HUD has had issues about the wasted administrative costs of the CDBG but they apparently have not pressed for significant reform. Perhaps if you sent it to a federal government oversight committee, there might be a little shake-up. Forget the timeserver Schumer. Find another national figure interested in sunshine laws. They have no personal stake in the stupidity that passes as politics in New York so might take an honest interest.
