Lukas Foss Has Died

Lukas Foss has died. This Saturday and Sunday, the Burchfield-Penney hosts a tribute to the pioneering composer and conductor, whose tenure with the Buffalo Philharmonic (1963-1970) raised the profile of this city and the University at Buffalo as a world-renowned center for artistic experimentation. The schedule of events at the Burchfield, which were planned well before Foss’s death, is here. Among the performers are Charles Haupt, Claudia Hoca, Amy Williams, Jan Williams, and Carol Wincenc.
