Earth Day in Buffalo

eart day The second annual Enviro-Fair will be kicking off a week of Earth Day activities with booth displays and speeches in front of Buffalo City Hall on Friday, April 18th from 11am to 2 pm. Some of what you’ll find there:
• Wal-Mart is giving out tree seedlings free to anyone that attends the Enviro-Fair at City Hall. These seedlings will be distributed by Wal-Mart personnel, AmeriCorps and volunteers of Re-Tree WNY. Wal-Mart also sells reusable shopping bags made from recycled materials for $1. The first 500 people at Enviro Fair will get the bag free.

• Free CFL Bulbs are being provided by The Home Depot for those who either turn in recyclable computer equipment or agree to sign a pledge to be “eco-conscious”.

• Blue Bicycle will be giving out info on their program that makes bicycling a preferred mode of transportation for Buffalo area residents.

• The Re-Tree WNY program will be explained at the Enviro Fair and volunteers will be able to sign up for area tree plantings.

• Other organizations providing info at the Enviro Fair include Grassroots Gardens and Keep America Beautiful (presented by Keep WNY Beautiful). Additional information on the Friday, April 18th Enviro Fair is available by clicking on www.buffaloenvirofair.com.
